How We Met

After another one of her classic all-nighters, Shanna just wanted to crawl into bed and hibernate. However, a little voice in her head whispered that missing shul yet again would be a bad idea. So with minutes to spare, Shanna packed up her Shabbat stuff and drove to the Young Israel--one of the best decisions she's ever made.

It had been more than a year since Julian graduated from Cornell University. With the last of his Cornell friends graduating in January, Julian felt that he should visit one final time. He decided to come up the weekend before Thanksgiving, say goodbye to the campus, and not return until his five-year reunion.

That weekend: Julian met Shanna, and he's been going back to Ithaca ever since.

How It Happened

Julian's plan was this - Pick up Shanna from Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, bring her near her home to where they first kissed, and propose. Sounds simple enough...

As soon as she got in the car, Shanna said that she wanted sushi. Julian and Shanna drove to the Upper West Side, but Estihana was closed. (Who eats sushi at 10 a.m. anyway?) After looking around for another restaurant, they decided to head to Shanna's house as originally planned.

Julian had the ring stashed in his coat pocket. Unfortunately, it was a really hot day, and Shanna insisted that he remove his coat. This wouldn't have been a big deal, except Shanna decided to run some errands. Luckily, Julian managed to move the ring from the coat to his pants pocket.

After bagels and a stop at the butcher's, they headed to Shanna's house. When he stopped the car, Julian wanted to take Shanna to where they first kissed. Shanna insisted that she was too busy so Julian had to literally drag her there.

He proposed.

After about five minutes of her sobbing and hugging him, Julian suggested that Shanna put the ring on. She did and it was a perfect fit.
